Description
Application to retain an Original Registration Number / Issue of an Age Related Registration Number -The V765 Form
David Groom writes
1) The V765 scheme is to allow the DVLA to issue an original registration number that is not currently on the DVLA computer. An application is endorsed by the Club when the owner has completed the forms I have sent him ( V765, V55/5. Club vehicle inspection form) plus relevant photographs and supporting documents - usually the buff log book, although the Club can help in obtaining old Local Authority archive records if they exist. The owner may be able to provide pre 1983 documents, such as an insurance certificate or the original Bill of Sale, but these must include the registration number and Commission number on the document submitted.

2) If vehicle owner has no original supporting documents that links the registration number to the commission number then the same form (V765) is used to enable the DVLA to issue an ‘AGE RELATED' registration number. In this case the Club will support the application with any archive material we may have - usually a Build Certificate.
