THIS IS NOT AN ELECTRONIC CONVERSION TO YOUR OLD DISTRIBUTOR, IT IS A COMPLETE BRAND NEW DISTRIBUTOR!
Your old distributor is probably worn, and with wear there can be incorrect and inconsistent dwell angles and/or contact bounce.
As a result of investment in development , manufacture and testing by the Standard Motor Club, we are now able to offer these Brand New Electronic Distributor for the Triumph Mayflower
Nothing to adjust and no points to wear out, ever.

1. These were available with either a Positive Earth or Negative Earth system, you must choose the correct polarity for your car
2. There is then a choice of a "Top Entry" or "Side Entry" Cap. The components of the kit are different for the one you choose:

Comprehensive instructions are supplied but if you are not familiar with Auto Electrics, please employ a Auto Electrician. To understand the complexity of the work required, please download, print and read these Fitting Instructions:

If these instructions are followed, no existing wire is cut, so the change is completely reversible
The illustrations show both the top entry and side entry versions
| Please note: In the Club's view, Side-entry Distributor Caps are inferior because they use a "spike" connector,.Top-entry caps use the much more reliable push in HT leads. If your car currently uses a side entry cap, please consider the use of a top-entry cap. In addition, this solution comes with the correct HT connectors and rubber boots that you need to convert your HT leads to top-entry. There is a slight increase in price, for the extra components, but in our view the solution is much preferable. |
This Distributor has been trial fitted to positive and negative earth Cars. The members universally report easier starting, improved performance, smoother running and better fuel consumption. This is because of the removal of the inevitable wear in your 70 or 80 year old Distributor and the consistency of an electronically generated spark.
Please note that the "Consumables" for our Distributors, should you need them, are available in this shop at very reasonable prices

Now select Side or Top Entry Cap, then select Negative or Positive Earth. Note that fitting the wrong polarity will destroy the Electronics - so don't do it!
